Lovely to read this post Kate, your absolutely right to change your newsletter and concentrate on things you enjoy. Your guide to Paris is superb, I’m going to attempt a day or two there in the autumn. The bluebells and magnolia are out in force here in Brittany it’s lovely to glimpse them whilst driving. Langoustine for us on Easter Sunday, I would do lamb, but it’s not the two of us, it would quickly become expensive snacks for the dog! Happy Easter. xxx
Thanks, Jude. The wisteria is out here so it feels so spring like. I have more Paris stuff coming up! Langoustines and lobster on a sunny beach with a warm sea would be my fantasised ‘ last meal’
That’s amazing. I know there are some near Bristol that I’ve never seen but I did see them last year at Plas Newydd in Anglesey which were awe-inspiring. It’s good as I don’t want to visit the US at the moment
Writing what you enjoy is the best way to keep writing! I love anything you write, so will remain an avid reader! We have an excellent bluebell wood not far from us in Ealing, of all places!
hello Kate, so lovely to see you in my inbox again! I'm going on a bit of a break myself too. Maybe just a monthly instead of my weekly letters. Thanks for sharing your update and your always useful links, xx
PS As somebody else has said - I like seeing your column arrive in my inbox! I'm hoping to get back to Paris soon. See you some time with my bead picture - perhaps I could drop it off in London?
Glad to see you're back from your break, Kate. And thank you so much for the kind recommendation. Also, FWIW, I did the non-booked queue for Notre Dame about 3 weeks ago on a Thursday morning at 11a, and it took about 15 minutes. I suspect it will lengthen a bit as non-tourist season arrives, but it's not too bad. And it's definitely worth it. Have a great trip!
That’s excellent intelligence. Thank you. We are currently trying to think of places to eat, having had some failures in the past. Did you go anywhere nice?
I absolutely adored my experience at Maison. It's tasting menu, but not Michelin star. In a cool, hip part of town. But the food is SOOOO interesting. Asian with French influences. And just really interesting.
One last thing: If you want to go for a really big, special occassion... And I can't believe I'm suggesting this... The Jules Verne in the Eiffle Tower is fabulous. Arpege is one of my favourite restaurants in the world. Obviously, both very expensive, but wonderful.

Hi Kate. Lovely to see a post from you! My Mum told me recently that there are more giant redwoods in the UK than in California!

Toasted milk powder is pretty useful in baking, in case you are trying to figure out what else to do with your tin!
I’ve never done that. I will investigate and might need to come back to you for some ideas. First, the ice cream !
So lovely to get caught up with you here! Always a pleasure to see you in my inbox!
Thank you so much. Spring makes everything feel different, doesn’t it. x
Welcome back Kate! xx
You’re back and I absolutely loved reading this! Wonderful 🥰
Thank you. Yes, I am back, tentatively. Oops, an adverb!

Hi Katherine - I use my skimmed milk powder when I'm making bread.

Other favourites include Le Gran Bain, Chez Janou, and Au Passage. We also love The Vaudeville for the grand Paris brasserie experience.
Thank you so much. I will investigate them all and get us sorted out.
