I liked the sound of that too but can’t roast squash or tortillas at the moment. Another recipe to add to the evergrowing list.

Interesting about The Times - I was a registered user for ages because of the 2 free articles, but earlier this year I saw an announcement that they were dropping that feature, so I unsubscribed. I guess they thought better of it!

We had exactly the same experience trying to buy appliances at John Lewis in Milton Keynes 6 years ago. The nice person at Curry's got to sell us a fridge, washing machine and dishwasher.

I’ve got a mini oven with 2 hot plates if you’d like to borrow it?

There’s an oncologist at UCLH called Prof Mark Emberton, do you think he might be moonlighting as a as a cookery writer ☺️

Thank you so much but the top of the range cooker which is gas still works if you use a match and new one is coming soon. And we bought a halogen hob from IKEA as we didn’t realise that at first.

Lol on Mark Emberton. The chef one once worked at the Drapers’ Arms according to LinkedIn

I’m so sorry you’re without an oven, how frustrating! We bought our first Britannia cooker from a local shop and I have to agree re service, its replacement from JL is super, but I did all the research!

I’ll catch up with the articles once we have WiFi again, maybe sometime as the next commune doesn’t have any power.

Love the idea of the Hebrides (summer only!)

Our old range cooker was Britannia problem is we don’t m want another one as going to redo kitchen in next couple of years and I would like eye level oven. . Salesperson in Coopers said it had done well to last 16 years which I thought raised serious questions about their longevity. We’ve done lots of research but would have expected the JL woman to be able to answer basic questions. We can buy a new hob and oven now and then save them for the next kitchen. Now coordinating a gas man , an electrician, a carpenter and a kitchen fitter. Fingers crossed ..

Not tempted by an Aga?

My old one was 20 years and still working, but it was too small 1 1/2 ovens rather than two. The present one is 9 years old and I’ve only had it serviced once. I think I’d do the same re eye level oven but It will probably be another 10 years til we redo the kitchen. Hope you can get it all coordinated soon x
