I'm personally not eating farmed salmon and I am slightly surprised that the Guardian/Observer is still doing recipes for it. I thought the movement against was getting quite strong.
I went to the Devonshire on Mothers Day and thought it has been overpraised.
Interesting what you say about the Devonshire. I haven’t been but went to Camille, also universally praised and thought some of the pricing was quite punchy although we loved the crab thing and the brown butter tart. And my best meal of last year was at Emilia’s, their restaurant in Ashburton.
Was good to be back although this week I've been away in Lake District and couldn't get broadband to work on laptop so already I've ruined my new schedule. x
Well I am definitely going to make the Blueberry Lemon Cake! We're going, that afternoon, to see some friends who have just moved (read....downsized!) and she loves that kind of cake. I'm making my way through your newsletter now; having been in bed for most of the week wwith one of the very worst times with cough, flu and oh so tired. Italy in 10 days ! and I think I'll make it...
And I'm fascinated by Telegraphs wine choice: they are so reasonable. I'll try one of each. Oh, I cannot wait to have appetite back; have lost 6 lbs already!
I like the sound of your plans!

I’m glad you like my plans. I agree about salmon.

Thanks Kate. Only just caught up with this - great to have you back! Thank you x

I love the change of emphasis! Great to get more of 'you' here
It was after your event, that I thought things through as the words, not being a chore, struck home.
that is really great to hear, thank you

Oh gosh. Poor you. I love that kind of cake too and Diana Henry’s recipes are the best. Looking forward to seeing lots of beautiful Italian photos.

You should read Fiona Beckett’s column in the Guardian too. Is wine just more expensive generally in the US?
Yay! Good to see you back and your new plan sounds great!
I’m glad you like my new plans. I feel comfortable with them and will see how it all goes.
A bit late to comment - but so good to have you back. As you know, I'm a big fan! That quote is brilliant, I have saved it for future use!
Such a good quote, isn’t it
I love your new plans, and I'm so glad to have your words back in my inbox - I missed them, Kate! Enjoy your trip next week!
